STAGETIMER.IO

What is a stage timer?

Stage timers, also known as countdown timers or interval timers, have a long history and have been widely used in various fields. The concept of timed performances dates back to ancient civilizations, where timekeeping devices such as sundials and hourglasses were employed. However, the modern stage timers we are familiar with today originated in the 20th century with the advent of electronic timers. These devices have proven to be invaluable in many sectors, including theater productions, sports events, conferences, and presentations. Stage timers enable precise control over the length of performances, ensuring smooth transitions and synchronized actions. They also assist in maintaining strict schedules, allowing performers and organizers to effectively manage time, create suspenseful moments, and enhance overall performances. Additionally, stage timers have become an essential tool for speakers and trainers, helping them pace their speeches and presentations, engaging audiences effectively. Overall, stage timers have revolutionized the way events and performances are managed, allowing for more structured and engaging experiences.

Stagetimer.io is a comprehensive timing and alert system specifically designed for public speakers, presenters, and event organizers. It offers numerous features and functionalities to help users effectively manage their time during presentations and events. Here is a detailed rundown of some of what Stagetimer.io is capable of:

2. Customizable Timers: Users can customize the timers according to their requirements. They can set the duration of each timer, adjust the color and size of the displayed timer on-screen, and choose from various timer styles.

3. Countdown Display: Stagetimer.io provides a visual countdown display, enabling speakers to see the time remaining at a glance. This helps them stay aware of their progress and adjust their pace accordingly.

4. Alert System: The platform offers an alert system, allowing users to set up audio or visual alerts at specific times during their presentation. These alerts help speakers stay on track and adhere to their allocated time.

5. Background Screen: Speakers can utilize Stagetimer.io's background screen option to project the remaining time alongside potentially relevant information, such as key points, statistics, or visual aids. This can improve the overall presentation experience for both speakers and the audience.

Okay clearly there is a lot here. How about just the basics, what do I need to do to get this up and running?

Sure thing! Since Stagetimer.io is a web-based remote application, the first thing you will need to do is set up a system to run the Viewer. Typically this will consist of a Chromebook connected to a confidence monitor. One hooked up, open a browser and input the URL for the Viewer screen. You can find this by clicking on the green 'SHARE' button in the top left corner of your controller window. Once done, you should now have two iterations of Stagetimer.io open - the controller side which you will control, and the viewer side that the speaker will see. Side by side they should resemble something like this:
